What are some good contemporary romance series/books?
Posted on March 7th, 2010 by admin
I am looking for contemporary romance books. Nothing paranormal, or with vampires or historical. A series would be good. Thanks
P.S. I do love paranormal romance, and vampire romance, I am just trying something new. And no I am not dissing the Twilight series.
Sophie Kinsella is amazing. I have all of her books. The Shopaholic series is hilarious. Meg Cabot’s Boy series is good — Boy Next Door, Boy Meets Girl, Every Boy’s Got One. Jennifer Crusie’s books are good, too.

I know you don’t want vampires. But Twilight is seriously the most awesome series ever! I expected it to be childish, but its actually a deep romance and addicting! Great for ages 13+

If you haven’t already you should read the Twilight series. They are so good. The author is stephanie Meyer. Idk about the spelling. Hope it helps!

Well I like the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich. You could also try the High Heels series by Gemma Halliday. First one in that series is Spying in High Heels. It’s soon to be a T.V series! Happy reading!

Nora Roberts is a prolific writer of romance novels and romantic suspense. I really enjoyed some like Montana Sky, Hidden Riches, Born in Fire, Born in Ice, Born in Shame, the MacGregor series starting with Playing the Odds, the D.C. Detectives: Sacred Sins, Brazen Virtue and many others.
Catherine Coulter has written a really good FBI mystery series that has an element of romance in it. The first book is called The Cove and is excellent.
You may also enjoy some of Linda Howard’s novels set in modern times. The ones that I enjoy most are her romantic suspense/mystery novels like Dream Man, Now You See Her, Mr. Perfect and Open Season.
I keep mentioning romantic suspense, because they are romance novels with mysteries in them. Among the best at this genre are Phyllis A. Whitney (she just died on February 8th at 104 years of age, some of her great books include Skye Cameron, Seven Tears for Apollo, Black Amber, Sea Jade and Amethyst Dreams), Mary Stewart (Madam, Will You Talk?, Wildfire at Midnight, Touch Not the Cat, Nine Coaches Waiting, Thornyhold and Stormy Petrel) and Victoria Holt (Shadow of the Lynx – but her stories are usually historical romantic suspense).
You may also enjoy some books by Richard Paul Evans like Finding Noel, The Gift, The Christmas Box, Timepiece, The Locket and others.
I hope this helps. I also hope you enjoy whatever you decide to read.
