I am writing a love letter to my girlfriend and i just wanted to know if girls actually like them? I don’t get to see my girlfriend too often because of our busy schedules. I see her maybe once a week, so i thought this was a good way to let her know I’m thinking about her.

Love Letters – An Animated Proposal – v2.0

I produced this animation as a way of proposing to my girlfriend (now wife) Natasha. I assembled a team of 20 animators to assist me, including co-workers, as well as students from my 3D character animation class at the Art Institute of California-San Francisco. We created more than four minutes of animation in just three months. When it was completed, I surprised Natasha by bringing her to the Parkway Movie Theater in Oakland, where they played the animation on the big screen in front of over 100 of our friends and family. The entire event was filmed for the TLC television show “A Perfect Proposal.”

Director’s Note: I pulled a George Lucas and retrofitted the opening shot of the animation to show a photo of the Natasha design from “The Invitation” rather than the earlier drawing of Natsha I had done, which I was never quite satisfied with. Also, after receiving many a tersely written emails, I finally decided to listen to the fans and have completely removed all scenes with Jar Jar Binks.

I’ve never actually heard of anyone I know writing a love letter. Do you write or receive love letters? Or are they just TV cliches?

Ooooo, I like receiving them. I think that I have gotten a few more than I have written. And no, they are not just TV cliches. Over the years, I have kept a shoebox of the letters as well as cards (love cards) I have gotten. What wonderful memorabilia!

So, don’t be afraid to write 1 or 73. You might even get a few back.

I love reading collections of authors letters and let’s face it, you can’t re-read an email when you are old and grey

My husband and I do.

We buy the Hallmark $.99 cards (they’re mostly blank) and fill them up. We have a box of love notes and cards from the time we started dating, through our engagement and marriage, and now that our son is two they keep coming.

He’s got a heart problem and is living on borrow time (aren’t we all, really?). These are a great way to preserve the wonderful relationship that we have! : )

Is there any way I can get my guy to write me love letters or at least respond to the ones I’ve written him? It’s not as if he’s never written one because he wrote an amazing one when we first started dating. Is there anything I can do? I’ve asked him why he doesn’t and he says "it’s just not really me." Did I make a mistake then?
